SensUS successfully passes the test conducted by the Maternal Infant Integrated Care Department (DAI) of Naples with full marks
According to the Director of the Obstetrics-Gynaecology Department, Prof. Nicola Colacurci, the device is “useful as support in the clinical management of labour, especially for less experienced colleagues and in uncertain conditions. The parturients also showed great interest in the device”
The SensUS Touch ultrasound device was handed over for a two-week trial period to the Obstetrics-Gynaecology Department of the Maternal-Infant Integrated Care Department (DAI) of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” in Naples, directed by Prof. Nicola Colacurci, in order to allow his team to objectively evaluate the device developed by Amolab. The device was used by emergency staff at the labor-delivery facility, attracting interest from both the facility professionals and parturients.
Prof. Colacurci’s evaluations
“The SensUS Touch ultrasound device can provide significant support in the clinical management of labour, particularly in cases of uncertain second stage slowdown conditions and especially for less experienced colleagues,” says Prof. Nicola Colacurci, Director of the Obstetrics-Gynaecology Department of the Maternal-Infant Integrated Care Department (DAI) of the University of Campania and Full Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the aforementioned University. The Professor is also in charge of the Infertility and Sterility Centre of the university.
“Given its ultra intuitive graphical representation for clinical assessment, the ultrasound device provided very useful information in evaluating the progression of the fetal head. The chart – he added – was highly valued by younger obstetricians and those under training because it enhances their knowledge and sharpens their skills. The patients also gladly accepted the use of ultrasound device in the delivery room, showing interest and asking various questions.”
“Aesthetically the ultrasound device is well designed. In addition, the trolley which allows to easily move the labour-delivery assembly confers great versatility to the device,” Prof. Colacurci added.
Excellent review as pertains to entry of patient identification and clinical history data, as well as retrieval of images from the archive: “All this is done quickly and easily thanks to a highly intuitive interface.”
The university lecturer also pointed out that image acquisition is faster: “The provided probe is ergonomic and easy to handle, while the framing of the pubic bone is easy to apply,” he further quipped. “When it comes to data processing by the software, there can be room for improvement in the case of repeated acquisitions, so as to increase the speed of the acquisition,” he concluded.
Amolab’s satisfaction
Amolab Srl’s director – Mr. Salvatore Calcagnile – said he was highly flattered by the report.
“Continuous improvement is the cornerstone of our company philosophy. Valuable feedback from experts of the industry enables us to actively and systematically collect, record and analyse relevant data on the quality, performance and safety of an ultrasound device throughout its lifetime, constantly monitoring and enhancing its performance,” said Calcagnile.
“The report by the maternal-infant Integrated Care Department (DAI) of the University of Campania holds significant importance, considering the prestige accorded to this excellent Obstetrics-Gynecology Department” – he wound up.”
